FOR THE REGIONS, FOR THE CLIMATE

Six partners from six countries, ambitious plans to exchange experiences and implement good practices in reducing greenhouse gas emissions – the international NACAO project is launched, co-financed by the EU Interreg Europe 2021-2027 program. The only Polish participant is the Local Government of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.

On Friday, March 10, the first working meeting of six partners of the NACAO project took place on-line. Its leader is the regional administration of Spanish Andalusia, and similar entities from Italy and Finland also participate in it, as well as the Ministry of the Environment, Energy, Construction and Climate Protection in Lower Saxony, the Environment and Energy Agency from France and the Department of Investment and Development of the Marshal Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (Section for Economic Cooperation and European Projects) with the support of the Section for Nature Protection in the Department of Nature and Climate.

During Friday’s meeting, each partner had the opportunity to present themselves, and the following topics were also discussed: about the work plan for the next four years of the project, its financing and the most important assumptions of NACAO. This project is aimed at supporting regions in creating regional policies in the area of environmental protection and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. NACAO will be a place for exchanging experiences, innovative solutions and building the capacity of institutions participating in the preparation of solutions regarding the ‘green deal’.

Over the next few weeks, project participants will take part in a series of meetings regarding, among others: finance and communication, while the first study visit is scheduled for June, hosted by the project leader – the regional administration in Andalusia.

It is worth adding that under the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 program, the voivodeship government will be a partner of five projects aimed at improving the implementation of regional policy instruments. In terms of the number of implemented projects, we are one of the leaders in Poland.

The NACAO – Nature-based Carbon Offsets project is implemented under the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 program, which is financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The Marshal’s Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, as one of the project partners, has a budget of PLN 804,000 for its implementation, of which PLN 643,000 is EU funding.
