Good Practices – Waste Management

Good practices – Waste Management

The second thematic seminar and study visits as part of the international CORE project, of which the Marshal Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is the only Polish participant, took place in Bolzano, Italy.

From September 26 to 28 this year in the picturesque town of Bolzano in Italy, a thematic seminar was held in which 7 partners of the CORE project from Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Sweden and Poland, represented by the Marshal Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and regional stakeholders, participated.

Let us recall that the ‘Composting in the Rural Environment’ (CORE) project is implemented under the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 program, and its main goal is to search for innovative and effective solutions and exchange experiences regarding regional policy in the area of bio-waste management.

During the September seminar, good practices used in individual regions, including those from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, were presented. Current topics were also discussed, such as preventing the generation of organic waste and regulations regarding composting in rural areas.

Polish representatives presented good practices implemented in our region and shared comments on stakeholders’ perception of the decision-making process regarding the implementation of organic waste management, focusing primarily on the requirements related to launching waste management enterprises.

Another element of the meeting were study visits to regional composting plants, which presented closed-loop composting procedures, upcoming challenges and good practices that the Italians exchanged with other project partners.

The next seminar and study visits, to be hosted by the project partner from Belgium, are planned for May 2024.
